Tale of Shadows wins big

"I never thought it would get anything," she said. Two other members of the film's team came on stage for Tale of Shadows' crowning achievement.

It got a lot, taking two other awards second place to the Trinidad and Tobago entry Dance of the Dance of the Daring in the Best Caribbean Short category and winning Best Jamaican Product (a category in which there was only one prize). Bim and Bam: the Adventure Series also had a strong showing, coming second in the Best Pitch category and winning Best Concept.

Other winners for the 2016 KingstOOn Animation Festival included Long Live the Queen (Best Story Board), Obadiah and the Jade Crystal (Best Character Design)\ and Canned (Best International Student Film). The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) expressed its support for and appreciation of the festival, during which a number of presentations and workshops on various aspects of the animation art and business were made.

Among them were a TV Paint demonstration and software trial, the launch of CXC's Digital Animation and Game Design syllabus, Antonio Morales speaking in The Age of Animation, a panel on Winning Characters with Brad Ableson and Don Perro, a master class on Asset Creation and Management by Florian Wagner and a panel discussion on Animation Education in Jamaica and the Region.

There was also a workshop on Creating Your Animation Portfolio, among other activities over the two-day festival.
