... As Alicia grabs 'Vogue' attention
Hot Pulse star, Alicia Burke, stepped on to the Gucci catwalk last week in London and earned raves from no less a publication than fashion's bible, Vogue.
According to the magazine, "Her appearance on the catwalk, in a glittering purple overcoat and wide-brimmed hat, captured the attention of the audience, proving that when a great model arrives, everyone takes note."
The magazine went on to talk about Pulse's Caribbean Model Search Reality TV show, as the source of Burke's discovery "back in 2015" and notes that "the Jamaican beauty (Alicia Burke) has been making waves in the international market", since the end of last year. The story went on to say that "though Gucci didn't launch Burke - she made her first appearance during the fall 16 shows (in Milan and Paris) for Miu Miu and Bottega Vaneta".
Burke arrived in Jamaica this week for CFW and will be the featured pre-CFW personality, along with her German and Spanish Vogue Pulse agency mate, Francine James - who arrives tomorrow for the event - at the CFW Press conference scheduled for Tuesday at the Courtleigh hotel in New Kingston.
The winner of Pulse's 2015 Caribbean Model Search Reality TV show, Burke's recent exploits include 12 pages of French Vogue and seven pages of Harper's Bazaar (both single-girl stories), shot by David Simms and Erik Madigan, respectively. Vogue was styled by Katie Grand and Harper's by Leith Clarke.
Burke's impressive client list reads like a virtual who's who of the global fashion industry: Prada, 1883, Top Shop, Vivienne Westwood, Bottega Veneta, Benetton, i-D, The Sunday Times, Me & Em, Lesley Goring, J.JS Lee, Theory with David Simms and Azzedine Alaia, in addition to French Vogue and Harper's.
Francine James won Pulse's Model search in 2014. Several times a cover girl, James is the cover of this month's hot fashion major L'Officiel. She has also appeared on the cover of Suitcase, Companere, and John Lewis. Apart from Vogue, and her magazine covers, her other editorial features include Elle and Marie Claire.
The high-flying Camperdown High School alumna, is pleased with her latest coup, which follows a string of successes since she returned to the international market after battling illness earlier this year. Not to be daunted, although this illness caused her to miss the fashion collections in February and March, James has returned with a bang, as she continues her climb up the fashion ladder, inevitably headed to supermodel status.
Her slew of assignments this year include campaigns for H&M, Gucci, and Westfield, among several other brands. Now, James has been joined in the international space by her Pulse agency mate, Alicia Burke, who has been setting Europe ablaze with coup after fashion coup.
