Veteran gospel singer Shirley Willis says she is excited about performing in Jamaica at the CUJ Gosplash 2016, set for Fort Clarence Beach in Hellshire, St Catherine, on August 1. The event will no longer be held at Sugarman's Beach in Portmore as had been previously reported.

Willis, who for three decades as a member of the internationally known Grace Thrillers, last performed in Jamaica about two years ago at The Jamaica Pegasus at an event held in her honour.

But after a two-year absence, she will be back in Jamaica, where she will perform in Ocho Rios on July 30 as a warm-up for her stint at Gosplash.

"I am very excited to be performing in Jamaica again," said Willis, who revealed that she would be on stage with other former members of the Grace Thrillers.

Together, the former members have been performing all across the United States and Canada as well as the Caribbean, winning souls for the Lord. She was recently in Canada performing alongside Alvin Slaughter and "it was good," she said.

She told The Gleaner that she is looking forward to performing songs like If God is For Us Who Can Be Against Us and I Have a Friend, one of her favorite tracks from her last album, It Matters Not. She also plans to share her testimony of how she miraculously survived a horrific car accident in June 2008 that left her in a coma for over a month.

Willis also said she that is looking forward to sharing the stage with fellow gospel artistes like Deitrick Haddon, DJ Nicholas, Prodigal Son, and Carey Sayles, among others.

The official launch of the CUJ Gosplash 2016 is to be held at the Courtyard Marriott on July 6 at 7 p.m., and part proceeds from CUJ Gosplash 2016, will go towards the Braeton Primary and Junior High school computer lab.
