Swift visit to burnt fan
Taylor Swift made a surprise visit to an eight-year-old fan on Saturday. The Blank Space hitmaker took a break from her 'Reputation' tour rehearsals in Arizona to pay a visit to Isabella McCune, who will miss Swift's upcoming concert because she is being treated at the Arizona Burn Center at Maricopa Medical Centre in Phoenix after being severely burned in a fire pit explosion in March.
Isabella's mother, Lilly McCune, told People magazine: "Taylor took time out of her busy, busy schedule and sat down on the bed next to Isabella.
"She brought her a bag with goodies from her tour. She said she had to meet her because she was so inspired by her story and honoured that her music helped her. When she was leaving, my daughter asked for a hug and Taylor turned around and said, 'Absolutely - I didn't want to hurt you'. They hugged and it was so heartfelt. I knew it meant a lot to Isabella."
Isabella was stunned to see her idol walk through the doors of her room in a hospital gown, much to the delight of Lilly and the youngster's father, JD, and brother Zachary. Lilly said: "She was so shocked! She was speechless. She was so happy. We were hoping for it, but we didn't want to get her hopes up. When we found out, we felt it was best to keep it a secret."
SWEETEST PEOPLE
The 28-year-old singer was accompanied on the visit by her own parents, who Lilly was very happy to meet. She said: "Her parents came, too, and they were the sweetest people, and it meant so much to my husband and me as parents. We have so much respect for them and how they raised her."
Isabella suffered burns on 50 per cent of her body and has so far undergone 11 operations, including skin grafts, to treat her horrific injuries. And throughout her ordeal, the youngster has been cheered by listening to her favourite songs by the Shake It Off hitmaker. Lilly explained: "Isabella has to go through painful, horrific dressing changes. During the changes, the staff has been asking how they can help her deal with her pain, something that would distract her. She said if she were to listen to Taylor Swift music, it would be a good distraction. So they turn on the music for her."
