Best Care Foundation Gala Dinner set for tonight

The Best Care Foundation is gearing up to host their annual Gala Dinner and Cabaret today at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.

Partnering with Jamaica National again for this year's event, organisers say the entertainment package this year will be just as exciting as in previous years. Everett Lewis, director of the foundation, told The Gleaner that although the support seems to have slowed this year, they are hoping to get the turnout they have become accustomed to.

"This year, the enthusiasm and support have not been as good as in previous years. The level of sponsorship has decreased, and the purchase of tickets has been kind of slow this year," he said. "I'm hoping things will pick up and we will get the support we need to come close to the target this year." Lewis says the economic climate may have contributed to the lack of support for this year's event as more people are facing financial difficulties and are cutting back on expenses.

CALLING FOR SUPPORT

With financial constraints threatening to put a damper on crowd support, Lewis revealed that the team did not achieve last year's target. "We are aiming for $1 million again this year. Last year, we didn't quite get there, but we came really close, and we were satisfied with the support. And with the economic climate we are currently experiencing, we don't want to go too hard on those coming out to support us," Lewis said. He added, "The funds generated will be used to take care of our operational expenses, including repairs and maintenance for the building and utilities. It's a special educational facility, and we want to provide these children with the best level of care we can, and in order to do so, we need support from the public. We are therefore urging everyone who can to come out and support. Not only will you be doing it for a good cause, but you will be getting value for your money."

The headliners for this year's event will be the group Khalil and experienced singer Tanice Morrison, backed by the Fab 5 band. Dr Sanneta Myrie, Miss Jamaica World 2015; Jamaica National's Earl Jarrett, and Senator Floyd Morris will be special guests at the event. In addition to the concert, there will be a special silent auction. The items will include paintings, ceramics and other household items.

Tickets are available at the Best Care Foundation on Trevennion Road. The event is expected to start at 7 p.m.
