The Debbie Bissoon-spear-headed Moms and Mimosas takes place at The Serengeti, Hope Zoo, Mona, in St Andrew today. The event is expected to be a space where mothers can de-stress and relax.

Bissoon said she wants Moms and Mimosas to be seen as a pre-holiday 'mom event', pointing out that as the Christmas season approaches, mothers will be under even more stress to get everything in order for the festive season.

"A lot of times, as mothers, we get carried away and we look after everyone but ourselves. Christmas is coming up, and before we get too busy sorting everything else out, I wanted to give mothers a day where they could just have some fun with other mothers," she said.

"I wanted to create a space where moms, aspiring moms, or even fathers who want to come out can connect, share and relate. We can talk about our experiences as mothers and just pour into each other while we unwind and relax."

The event will see moms competing in a quiz challenge. There will be a Mommy confession booth, as well as beauty and home-based product sampling, makeovers fashion show, and special guest performances.

Attendees are asked to bring along baby clothes, toys, books, diapers, and wipes for charity.

"As mothers, we are nurturers by nature, so while we're indulging, I also wanted to give persons an opportunity to give back. Some of us tend to overspend on our kids, and sometimes they do not even use half the stuff we buy. This is a good chance to donate some of those items to those who are not as privileged. We want to ensure that we do what we can to ensure every child has a good Christmas, so whatever you have, take it with you. Someone will appreciate the gesture," she said.
