This Saturday, Magnify Him gospel event celebrates 30 years. This year, the event will be held at the Northern Caribbean University’s Gymnatorium in Mandeville, and is expected to take a different form – Choirs in Praise Jubilee. The host choir from the Holiness Born Again Church in Heartease, Mandeville, will be joined by other choirs from Kingston, Spanish Town and Savanna-la-Mar, with MC being the vivacious Pastor Jassett McKenzie.

Magnify Him, which originated at the home church in Heartease, Mandeville, had its debut production in 1991.

According to its founder and executive producer, Anthony ‘Tony’ Morris, the celebration started out at the church with the main objective of being a choir presentation for the assembly.

Event is growing

However, the event has developed and grown over the years, taking on a larger, more inclusive and expansive role to incorporate a wider cross section of participants.

Known for its rich musical component and great worship, Magnify Him has become a popular gospel music event in central Jamaica.

This year, the Magnify Him 30th Anniversary Awards Ceremony will recognise the musicians and other persons who have served Magnify Him over the 30 years. The event takes place at Heartease today, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
