Glacia Robinson says doctorate award was prophesied - Gospel community congratulates veteran singer and long-serving minister

Glacia Robinson is the latest musical minister to be given a honorary degree.
Music producer and co-founder of the Glory Music record label, Tommy Cowan, has a Doctor of Divinity from the Trinity Theological Seminary of South Florida, while gospel artiste Lieutenant Stitchie was conferred with a honorary doctorate in 2012 from the Cornerstone Christian University, also in South Florida, for his contribution to gospel reggae music.
In an interview with The Gleaner, the multitalented singer, songwriter, composer, praise and worship leader and author said the award was prophesied to her a few years ago by Reverend Mark McLean, head of the Ecclesiastic Ministries International.
Robinson said, “I received a prophetic word from the Lord saying He was going to bless me with the award, this was prophesied a couple years ago through Reverend McLean. Then, a couple weeks ago, I was just having a casual conversation with him and he began to declare the works of the Lord over my life and that was one of the things God used him to do again.”
The I Am A Winner singer was awarded a honorary Doctor of Divinity degree at the Florida-based Heart Christian University’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 5.
She expressed her gratitude for the honour. “Of course, I had no idea how, or when it would happen, but I believed the word of the Lord, and I received it with all my heart. And a week and a half later, I was informed of my nomination. I am so humbled and thankful by this honour,” she said.
“There’s now a doctor in the house; I must thank the Heart of Christian University, Dr Dornett McIntosh, Reverend McLean, and an extra special thanks to my darling husband Emerson Ally, my family as well as my destiny helpers.”
In addition to the honorary doctorate, the Humanitarian Social Service Award was also bestowed upon Robinson in recognition for outstanding humanitarian service.
“Can you image? From death’s door to a humanitarian award along with the Doctor of Divinity … only God!” she exclaimed. In her excitement, Robinson took to social media to share her accomplishment as a means of encouragement to persons never to give up on their dreams.
Several colleagues put forth their congratulations including reggae-dancehall entertainers Wayne Marshall, Chevaughn, George Nooks, as well as gospel singers and ministers such as Lieutenant Stitchie, Levy’s Heritage, Gracia Michaels and DJ Nicholas.
Speaking with The Gleaner, gospel reggae artiste Chozenn threw verbal bouquets at Robinson, referring to her as his sister, mentor and friend.
“She is my big sis … my beloved sister in Christ and I celebrate with her daily. This is a phenomenal milestone and my outpouring love is understandable — congratulations Glacia — greatness is indeed your portion and success is your destiny. Keep winning dear, yes, even in the midst of a pandemic eagles continue to soar and I continue to wish you every blessing,” Chozenn said.
