This 2011 story is about a woman name Fern (Best Actress Academy Award winner Frances McDormand) who, after the death of her husband and losing her job, leaves her home in Nevada to travel the American West. Also starring are David Strathairn and real-life nomads Linda May, Swankie, and Bob Wells, as fictionalised versions of themselves.

Nomadland is directed by Chinese film-maker and Golden Globe Award winner Chloé Zhao and is based on the non-fiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder.
