Jah Cure remains in custody following court appearance

Reggae singer Jah Cure will remain in custody until next Monday. At that time, the suspect "will appear again in the Council Chamber, part of the Amsterdam court," the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service confirmed.
The entertainer, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, has been in pretrial detention for the past two weeks, following an alleged stabbing incident in the Netherlands. He appeared in court on Monday.
Reports are that Jah Cure allegedly stabbed 45-year-old concert promoter Nicardo 'Papa' Blake in the stomach on October 1, during an incident at Dam Square in the city centre of Amsterdam.
Following a quick investigation, the police arrested Jah Cure in the city centre of Utrecht on October 2. He was arraigned on October 5 before an examining judge on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault or attempted aggravated assault.
The examining judge ordered him to be placed on remand for 14 days. That has now been extended for another seven days.
A date for a possible trial has not been announced.
Jah Cure celebrated his 43rd birthday on October 11, while behind bars.
PRAY FOR JAH CURE
On Saturday, as he hosted the Verzuz ICONZ event, rapper and musician Wyclef Jean asked concertgoers at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, to pray for the reggae singer.
Calling the detained reggae crooner his "brother," Wyclef asked Refugee Sound to pull a Jah Cure dub and requested that the audience intercede on the Longing For singer's behalf.
"Look, I don't know what's going on, but I need to send a prayer to my brother that's in Holland, in Amsterdam. Can you play something? DJ, send a note for my brother," said Wyclef.
Refugee Sound responded by playing Never Find, to which Wyclef responded, "If you love Jah Cure, hands in the air right now," and asked Refugee Sound to "keep that record going".
Hosted on Saturday as part of the TrillerVerz III Weekend, the first staging of the Verzuz ICONZ concert honoured legendary dancehall deejay Super Cat. It included dancehall and reggae acts Kranium, Dexta Daps, Cham, Barrington Levy, Konshens and Teejay Uptop Boss.
