Celine Dion delays opening of Vegas show due to spasms

LAS VEGAS (AP):

Celine Dion is delaying the opening of her new Las Vegas show due to muscle spasms that have kept her from performing.

On Tuesday, a statement posted on her website said the singer has been having severe and persistent muscle spasms, and she is being evaluated and treated by a medical team.

"I'm heartbroken by this," Dion said in the statement. "My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and to not be able to open this November saddens me beyond words."

Shows scheduled for the Resorts World Theatre on November 5 through November 20, and January 19 through February 5, 2022, are being cancelled. The statement said that her world tour is still scheduled to resume in March 2022.

Ice-T remembers path not taken in memoir 'Split Decision'

NEW YORK (AP):

Ice-T has never forgotten the path his life might have taken.

The rapper and actor has a deal with Gallery Books for the memoir Split Decision, in which Ice-T and his long-time friend, identified only as Spike, look back on their time as partners in jewellery heists in Los Angeles and elsewhere. Spike ended up in prison while Ice-T became famous as a musician and for his roles in New Jack City and the TV series Law & Order: SVU, among others. Gallery, a division of Simon & Schuster, will publish the book on July 19, 2022.

"I grew up in a very bad set of circumstances, and my trajectory was that of a dangerous career criminal, not a famous actor and musician," Ice-T said in a statement Tuesday. "It was one split decision that put me on a positive path that changed my life forever."

Spike, who spent more than 20 years in prison before his release in 2016, said in a statement that the book was a story "of change, redemption and solidarity".

"I hope we will inspire readers – especially at-risk youth – about the ripple effects of all our choices," he said.

Rapper formerly known as Kanye West is now just Ye

LOS ANGELES (AP):

Kanye is now Ye.

A Los Angeles judge on Monday approved the request of the rapper, producer and fashion designer to legally change his name from Kanye Omari West to just Ye, with no middle or last name.

"There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted," Judge Michelle Williams Court said in court documents.

The petition filed August 24 cited "personal reasons".

He has called himself Ye on his social media pages for years. He tweeted in 2018 that he wanted the change, saying, "the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE."

The moniker was also the title of his 2018 album. He has said in interviews that, along with being a shortening of his first name, he likes that it's a word used throughout the Bible.

The 44-year-old is in the middle of a divorce with Kim Kardashian West, who did not ask that her last name be changed back to just Kardashian when she filed to split from him in February. The couple's four children also have his former last name.
