On Sunday, October 30, Kingston Creative’s ArtWalk festival will return to downtown Kingston for the first time in two years. Sponsored by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (an agency of the Ministry of Tourism), the American Friends of Jamaica and Main Event, the monthly mecca of Jamaican culture is back in Water Lane, amid a backdrop of new murals.

ArtWalk’s musical headliner will be Royal Blu, a versatile singer, songwriter, and lyricist who’s been hailed as “one of Jamaica’s top artists to watch” by Complex magazine. Actor Desmond Dennis and popular steel band, RSI Steel will be other performances on the day. Patrons will also enjoy an interactive dancehall performance and class with 2022 Red Bull Jamaica Dance Your Style champion Joel Tennant, also known as ‘Joel Immortal’, and team.

ArtWalk patrons will also be treated with high calibre musicianship from The Jam is Back (TJB).

Over the years TJB has established itself as a beacon of the local music scene and intends to bring that quality to the ArtWalk.

Kingston Creative will also be offering tours (a tour of the Water Lane and a music tour around downtown Kingston) throughout the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for those who want to check out the indoor spaces, dining and pop-up art exhibitions will be inside popular bistro, F&B Downtown and upstairs at the Creative Hub at 107 Harbour Street.

In addition to performances from across the spectrum of Jamaican creativity, there will be an art installation by House of Caos and the F & B parking lot will be lined with tents filled with vendors and artisans selling jewellery, food and other creative goods. Some of the confirmed artisans include Crystal Box, ChelleMac, La Mona designs & Variety, Tasha & Tianne Fashion (T&T), Hune Wares, 44 Miles Jewelry, Eco Art Life Jamaica, iNation books, e’Klektïk Pieces, Because It Is For You, The Cake Collective, the Reggae Chefs, the Waah Gwaan Food Truck and more.

“The ArtWalk is finally back in downtown and we are grateful for our new partners like Main Event for providing a platform for emerging artists and artisans, and investing in the redevelopment of the old city,” said Kingston Creative executive director, Andrea Dempster-Chung, “We look forward to seeing everyone in Water Lane this Sunday!”
