Miss Jamaica World 2022 is Shanique Singh.

The 25-year-old, who wore the crown Miss Howard Johnson Realty, was crowned a short while ago by Miss Jamaica World 2021 Khalia Hall at the Courtleigh Auditorium.

Lineisha Davis placed second, while Tahje Bennett placed third.

Singh performed impressively ahead of the coronation, claiming the win in two fast track evens — the Serengeti Talent Fast Track Event, which she won with a traditional Indian dance and the Fort Clarence Beach Beauty Event.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness congratulated the newly crowned queen on Twitter.

"Congratulations to Shanique Singh on being crowned Miss Jamaica World 2022," tweeted Holness. "I wish you a successful and inspiring reign. Congratulations also to the other brilliant and talented Jamaicans who competed for the crown." He ended the post with a call for the student to return the Miss World crown to Jamaica. Jamaica has won the Miss World title a total of four times.

The island last won the Miss World competition in 2019 when Toni-Ann Singh took home the crown. As the world grappled with the coronavirus, Toni-Ann Singh is the longest reigning title holder in the history of the Miss World pageant due to the delay of the 70th Miss World competition owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Miss Poland Karolina Bielawska is the reigning Miss World.

The location and date of the 71st Miss World grand coronation have not yet been announced.
