Ralph scores first Golden Globe nom, but misses out on win
Emmy Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph scored her first Golden Globe nomination at the 80th Golden Globe Awards but would miss out on the top prize.
Ralph was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for the role Barbara Howard in Abbott Elementary. Ozark's Julia Garner took the top prize. Other nominees included Elizabeth Debicki for The Crown; Hannah Einbinder, Hacks and Janelle James, Abbott Elementary.
This is Garner's third Golden Globe nomination and her first win. In 2021, she was nominated in the same category for the same role, but Gillian Anderson won for The Crown.
Garner is up for one other award tonight, that of Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture for Inventing Anna, where she played the role of Anna Delvey.
Abbott Elementary received a total of five Golden Globe nominations and has already scored two wins. The show's creator, Quinta Brunson took the award for Best Television Actress in a Musical/Comedy Series. Tyler James Williams won Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for the breakout hit.
