Shenseea reflects on early days as ‘bottle girl’
‘My journey has been a long one’
Shenseea reflected on her beginning in the industry following a well-received performance at Campari Dream Weekend, where she performed at Daydreams, held at Long Bay Beach in Negril, Westmoreland.
The Alpha entertainer said she remembers working the event as a VIP server.
“This was so emotional for me because I remember when I was a bottle girl serving the patrons at this specific event busting my ass to get as much tips as I could to feed myself and my kid,” she posted to Instagram.
She thanked God, her team and fans. “My journey has been a long one and I have much further to go. From a bottle girl to getting booked to perform!” said Shenseea.
Pulling on some of her well-known hits, she took to the stage in the final hour of Daydreams and delivered with tracks such as Shen Yeng Anthem, Rebel, The Sidechick Song, Foreplay, Upset, among others to the delight of her fans who sang along.
She engaged with Dreamers, inviting her supporters onstage to perform Good Comfort.
Mark Telfer, brand manager, Campari, said the Daydreams patrons were left fully satisfied not only by Shenseea’s performance, but the vibe of the event itself.
“You could hear it in their voices as they sang along with Shenseea as she sang her hits after hits. The fans were left fully satisfied,” Telfer said.
P. J. Wright, promoter of Daydreams, hailed this year’s turnout. “This has been Daydreams’ largest turnout. It is one of our flagship events that both locals and foreigners always anticipate. The fact that it’s held on an open beach where patrons can dip their feet in the water is a major plus. Having Shenseea perform only amplified the event as she partied with patrons during her highly interactive performance,” he said.
Dream Weekend continues today with Mawnin’ After and Island Beats.
