Valiant excited for first Dream performance
High off his Reggae Sumfest debut, fast-rising dancehall star Valiant is looking forward to another first-time performance.
The Speed Off entertainer will close this weekend’s Dream Weekend with a performance at Igloo on Tuesday.
“I’m excited about being a part of the line-up. It’s my first time so I’m also appreciative to the Dream team for having me,” said Valiant.
He said patrons can look forward to a “high-energy” debut.
“I don’t know what the Dream crowd is like. I know though it’s a mix of local and international patrons so it will be interesting,” he said. “[Patrons can expect] high energy! And fun. When I’m onstage I ensure my fans have a great time. I’m blessed to be able to perform for them so I give my all when I’m onstage.”
Mentioning his Sumfest performance, Valiant said he would like to continue the momentum and has new music on the way.
“I have a few singles to release, as well, and a number of shows to perform at,” he said.
Dream Weekend is celebrating its 14th staging this year. The popular Negril summer party weekend started on Friday with Celebrity Playground at Wavz Beach in Negril. A number of performers hit the stage over the weekend including Skeng, Shenseea, Wayne Wonder and Chronic Law.
Valiant launched out on to the music scene in late 2022 when his slang, ‘Kotch di hat’ went viral. The Stony Hill native, whose given name is Raheem Bowes, previously told THE STAR that he had been singing from as early as age five and he is not new to the music business. Valiant was a member of the Unruly Camp before joining 1 Diplomats.
Songs, such as Dunce Cheque, Cut All Losses, and North Carolina, have helped to popularise the artiste. He followed up with hits, such as Speed Off, which was produced by Romeich Entertainment, Narcissistic, featuring Stalk Ashley and Barbies, which helped to continue his momentum.
