Sheryl Lee Ralph nominated for Third Emmy Award
Sheryl Lee Ralph has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Barbara Howard in Abbott Elementary. This marks her third consecutive nomination for the role, having previously won the award in 2022, the year of her first nomination.
Ralph and fellow Emmy winner Tony Hale announced the nominations on Wednesday morning. She was informed of her own nomination by Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego during the broadcast, to which she cheered and stated, 'It never gets old, it never gets old. Yes!"
Other nominees for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series include Carol Burnett for Palm Royale, Liza Colón-Zayas for The Bear, Hannah Einbinder for Hacks, Janelle James for Abbott Elementary, and Meryl Streep for Only Murders in the Building.

Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson was nominated in the categories of Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series. The ABC show remains a driver of Emmy diversity, with the nominations of James and Tyler James Williams for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series.
Other nominations for the series include Outstanding Casting For A Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series, Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling, and Outstanding Comedy Series.
The mockumentary-style comedy has garnered a total of 24 Emmy nominations over the years and has received four wins, further cementing its place in the television landscape. The Emmy Awards, where winners in various categories will be announced, is set for September 15.
