Alaine is among the extensive line-up for the upcoming Marcia Griffiths and Friends concert on November 3.

Among the friends set to join ‘queen of reggae’ Marcia Griffiths on Sunday is songstress Alaine, who, along with others in the grand line-up, was specially chosen by Griffiths for her concert.

Quoted in a press release, Alaine said, “I love Aunty Marcia. I’m truly grateful she thought of me. I’ve always looked up to her as a shining example of grace, excellence and poise. I was beyond honoured to write and vocally produce Automatic for her, and loved singing her song for her at the Caribbean Music awards. She is undoubtedly the queen of reggae music and her humility is inspiring. I’m bringing all my love and good vibes to the ‘Marcia Griffiths and Friends’ concert. Singing for the queen and my country is the greatest gift. I’m really excited about it.”

Hand-selected by Griffiths herself, the line-up includes recently added reggae royalty Skip Marley, Nadine Sutherland, Tanya Stephens, and internationally acclaimed acts such as Shaggy, Busy Signal, Tessanne Chin, among others.

The concert celebrates Griffiths and her 60-year contribution to reggae music’s legacy and its heritage. And, this is the first time Griffiths is taking the stage in Jamaica this year.

The No Ordinary Love singer will be a part of the I-Threes tribute at the musical showcase that will cover the lifespan of Reggae. Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell shares his excitement for the upcoming event, as it’s also his first performance in Jamaica for the year. With music provided by Jamaica’s All-Star Band, led by the impeccable Dean Fraser.

The show is also expected to have a cadre of surprise acts and we can speculate it may include a few of Griffiths’ impressive list of collaborators over the years.
