Spider interrupts COVID press conference
Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'Ath was speaking at an outdoor news conference to discuss the need for businesses to follow coronavirus vaccination rules when it was pointed out that the large creature was on the podium.
D'Ath asked: "Okay, can somebody please get that spider off?"
Fellow health officer John Gerrard then attempted to shoo the huntsman spider away using some papers but it soon disappeared from view after being spotted near D'Ath's foot.
D'Ath joked: "This shows how controlled I can be. I don't like huntsmans, but I'm going to keep going. If he comes anywhere near my face, let me know.
"Well, that was a moment, wasn't it? We've got Covid and we've got spiders.
