Debunking the Myths
When you are pregnant or are a new parent, there are several myths or ?old wives? tales? that you are told. Some of them are age-old wisdom and some are just that; tales. Here, we separate the myths from facts.
Tomboy
I used to climb over walls and climb trees when I was pregnant and I was told that if I did not stop that, my daughter would be a complete tomboy. Well, it was the truth because I cannot control her. She climbs over and on everything. So I guess that one was not a myth.

Gripe
I was told that if I am on my monthly cycle and hold a baby boy, I would give him gripe. That was not true after all.

Mark
If you want pork and scratch anywhere, then the baby will have a birthmark with hair growing from it. That definitely was not true at all.

Raw birth
I was told that if you eat too much spicy food then the baby?s skin would be raw when you give birth. Well, mine was not, so that could not have been true.

Deformed
My mother was trying to get me to eat properly, so she said if I did not, my baby would have birth defects. I did not and I had a healthy baby.

Hiccups
Thread on the forehead to prevent hiccups does not work. My baby just looked on me as if to say, ?what?s that supposed to do? and continued with the hiccup.

Hiccups
Parents always say that hiccups means that they are growing. We cannot prove whether this is true or false, but I am inclined to believe it is not.

Getting rid of ghosts
We are told to put a red string or ?scrungy? on the hand to get rid of ghosts. Well, I do not know if it is true, but did it anyway.
