Suited for the altar
When it comes to the wedding day, often the focus is on the bride. But that does not mean that it doesn't matter what the groom wears. Contemporary grooms have been turning up the notch on fashion and taking risks without losing an ounce of style. Here are some things to consider when choosing the perfect suit to match your bride.
Setting and theme
For a black-tie wedding, a tux is the best option. Suits made out of more casual materials are appropriate for a less formal wedding. You can also deviate from the traditional black as well. This would best apply to beach and garden/backyard weddings. No jeans! No matter how casual. If it's a beach wedding and she's wearing a flowing dress, the groom should wear a more relaxed suit made of lightweight fabrics like linen or cotton. Keep in mind that it's better to be overdressed at your wedding.
Colour scheme
As blush is the new white for brides, grey is the new black for grooms. Lately, there has been an increase in tan, beige and grey suits. Though the main man might opt for a slightly different coloured suit, it should still remain in the same vein as the groomsmen. A nice touch is that the groom wears a different colour tie.
Statement ties
Bow ties are trendy and stylish, the perfect way to make a splash on your wedding day. Go ahead, embrace your funky side.
Complement the bride
They say the wedding is all about the bride, but you will be standing beside her the whole time, so whatever you wear, it needs to complement her dress. If the bride is going with a simple dress, so should the suit. A very glamorous dress requires a formal evening suit.
At the end of it, your wedding-day attire ought to be an extension of the bride.
