Jamaica MakeUp Artist Awards
It was a night for Jamaica's finest artists - the ones who spend their time with the canvas that is the human face.
Make-up artists were given a nod of appreciation at the first Jamaica MakeUp Artist (JMUA) Awards on Sunday, May 29, at the Stella Maris Pastoral Centre.
The JMUA Awards is a new interactive competition that aims to highlight local professional make-up practitioners and cosmetics creators for their beautiful work and contribution to the beauty sector.
The awards were separated into 11 categories, which included Best Emerging Make-up Artist, Make-up Guru, Make-up Artist in Media/Television, Amateur Make-up Artist, and a number of people's choice awards.
As the bold and beautiful faces sat in anticipation, event manager, Orlando Newby welcomed the guests.
"Persons are valuing make-up now more than ever, and it's a beautiful ability to edify someone's looks. For this reason, we saw it vital to host an awards event to reward these artists," said Newby.
Among the winners were Kareen Lamme from Bute Cosmetics for best portfolio, Kelly Jones for best emerging artist, Dawn Lindo for best make-up guru, and people's choice best MUA of the year 2015, Kemiesha Bryan, and Paul March, Most achieved Make-Up Artist.
