Reggae, cultural wear has been creating waves on the fashion industry, and with hip, trendy clothing from Momo Penelli designs, you are in for a fabulous surprise.

The brain behind the culturally inspired clothing brand, Monique Jones, pursues a psychology degree at the University of the West Indies, but with her love for fashion, she uses Afrocentric-Caribbean culture to create vibrant, contemporary clothing and accessories.

With Jones' support for cultural awareness, she aspires for Jamaica to embrace more of their culture, especially in fashion and music. Most of the prints in her designs are inspired by her love for African culture and nature. This, she believes, sets her apart.

"The vibrant colours in my designs emanate flowers and make me extremely happy! I was also inspired by reggae artistes like Marcia Griffiths, Rita Marley and Etana, who wore culturally inspired pieces when performing," Jones told Flair.

On a daily basis, Jones exudes simplicity as she prefers comfort over style. Her designs are simple but bold and the pop of colours from her designs promises to add that extra 'oomph' to any outfit.

Jones hopes to own a store locally and then internationally. She also wants to participate in fashion shows around the world and create a platform for young creatives to practise and harness their love for fashion.

"My dream is to visit Africa one day, source various types of fabrics, be among the people so that I can experience and learn more about their culture," she expressed.
