Patriotic pride in Jahnet's Closet
There is no doubt that we're proud Jamaicans, but when it comes to fashion, not all fashionistas jump at the sight of green, gold and black outfits. But with diversity in patterns, textures and a dash of cultural colours in Jahnet's Closet, women can step out of their closets and into patriotic pride in style.
Designer Jahnet Cleo Frederick shares with Flair that her patriotism derives from representing, showcasing and experiencing the beauty of different cultures. Born and raised in the Virgin Islands, Frederick enjoys satisfying the fashion needs of her worldwide customers, regardless of their culture variation.
"My designs represent strength, confidence, self-acceptance and women of different cultures. They are culturally saturated with a touch of 'goddesstry'. I also try to add a hint of flair in my pieces so women can relate to them," Frederick explained.
No matter what pieces are being worn, from a simple earring to a beautiful flowing skirt, Frederick wants women to feel positively beautiful.
"Give me music, colours and patterns and my imagination takes over. When the rhythm touches me, I see the movement, cuts and styles," she said.
Through those inspirations, Frederick produces stunning, chic and edgy pieces that will be perfect for the Independence season.
