DIY Fashion Event - Keep it hip with fashion and technology
When fashion fuses with technology, you can only expect an ‡ la mode, chic and posh affair. That is what Digital Systems and Supplies Limited, a distributor of Brothers sewing and design products, gave at their DIY Fashion Event last Wednesday.
The fashion event, now in its third staging, was held at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in Kingston. It pulled several aspiring designers to the venue for an afternoon of stitching and garment printing solutions with high-quality machines.
Marketing Director at Digital Systems Supplies, Delroy Ellis told Flair that each year the show gets better, and is always in the interest of the people.
"This staging is different. The technology has improved, and this is what we want to bring to the people," Ellis said.
He added that the best thing about Brothers equipment is that they can produce high-quality performance at affordable prices.
Hosted by the DIY Fashion Ambassador and fashion genie Carlton Brown, the event exposed young and prospective designers to several high-class sewing, cut and scan, automatic embroidery, and garment-printing machines.
Jewel Osbourne-Landells, business development manager for Digital Systems and Supplies, said the event was more than simply showing the prowess of the machines.
"We also [aim] to connect the products with the end users," she said.
The talented Sue Ann Lyttle, Faith Taylor, Joyce Tomlinson, the Camperdown High School Fashion Club among others, turned out to the day's event to display some of their best pieces created using the Brothers machines.
Jamaica National Small Business, TRWE Consulting and MC3 were also on hand to make the show a grand success.
