Christmas is in the air. Can you feel it? For many it may mean lights, cameras, and action! But for Laura Alexis its lights, cameras and candles. The promising videographer and soy candle manufacturer, spoke with Flair about her quest to success.

Growing up watching Rainbow Brite and Care Bears, Alexis had a mission that she was and continues to be determined to accomplish. "I have always wanted to become an entrepreneur. In Prep School I would make my grandmother Christmas cards, which I would then sell to other family members and friends. At that time, I had both my parents by my side instilling the value of being independent, whether it was learning to ride without training wheels, or my father instilling the value of having a good education," Alexis told Flair.

The continental girl as she describes herself, attended the St Andrew's High School for Girls. She was then off to the England where she attended the Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, England and Bay Path College in Longmeadow Massachusetts in the United States of America, where she earned her first degree in International Business.

If you know what T. I meant when he said, "I'm the opposite of moderate, immaculately polished with and the spirit of a hustler and the swagger of a college kid," then you will know who Alexis truly is.

PASSION

Driven by hard work, determination and the desire to excel even when the chips are down, the fun energetic and satirical witty Alexis is very fervent about her first love, TV production.

"It is a very creative experience, pushing me to do better on each project, as well as meeting new people every day. I have been very fortunate to have worked with some of the best in the industry, both locally and internationally, and it is with pride I can share this knowledge, with my TV and Film Colleagues," Alexis said.

Today, she is the owner of Production Box, a 10-year-old a boutique Production House that films high-end weddings.

In November 2015, she had a surprising appendectomy that rendered her unfit for work. It was a painful moment, but also a blessing in disguise. While recuperating, her grand idea of fusing her love for candles with scents came to light and gave birth to the two-year-old company Laura Alexis Homemade Candles.

Her soy candles are made with love to light up your life, especially during Christmas. The Bedroom Bully, Hol a Fresh, Sekkle Down and Duppy Conqueror are some of her famous candles.

As you would imagine, managing both companies is not easy, but she always find a way out. Alexis hopes to cover the World Cup in Russia next year, and expand the market for her candles to Harrods in England. She says for all the budding entrepreneurs, "Dream big and don't give up!"
