On Sunday, April 15, Spry Fitness in association with the Kingston Polo Club will have the first charity polo match in aid of Eve for Life at the Caymanas Polo Club. When getting dressed for a typical polo match, remove the notion that it is anything like a high-fashion Kentucky Derby. Think of Julia Roberts in the movie Pretty Woman, who turned heads in a simple brown polka dot A-line dress, and a comfortable two-toned kitten heel. The idea is to play around with spring colours and trends which involves the use of pastels, bright, solid colours, and not to mention patterns.
Given the nature of our tropical climate, heavy materials are a no-no. Outfits must be lightweight and airy, not only due to the intensity of the sun but also the heat from the match among contending players. Shades are a must and wide-brim hats or fascinators are optional. A pair of chunky heels, wedges or flats are ideal for walking on the grassy grounds.
