Tifa’s got glam Covered
Easy, breezy, beautiful … you know the rest. This iconic refrain, directly affiliated with the famous CoverGirl, is often articulated among glossy or matte lips everywhere.
Now, Caribbean women have the greatest access to world-class glamour with the creation of ‘Full Spectrum Collection’, a product line by CoverGirl specially designed for women of colour. The globally adored beauty mecca made the official launch recently at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, entertaining the likes of A-listers and fashionistas.
Flair went behind the scenes with local CoverGirl ambassador, dancehall artiste Tifa, as she got all dolled up for the main event. Warmly greeted by the glam dolls of EC Makeup Bar in Lee’s Fifth Avenue, her official CoverGirl make-up artiste (MUA), Jody-Ann Ramsay, got to work, creating a glitz and glam beat for a goddess!
Choosing Hollywood glam for her ‘Spell it Out’ supermodel, Ramsay framed a matte face with alluring drama. “For Tifa’s spotlight night, I created a soft glow, via highlight: that glow will be a sure-fire way to see her coming. I also added the dramatic look of smokey wings, that go beyond the eyelids, pairing that with nude lips. I wanted her to embrace that femininity and radiate in beauty, without looking like a completely different person.”
Boasting cosmetics for the eyes, lips and face, the MUA for close to 10 years, endorses the Full Spectrum line for its wide range of variety in colour and its unwavering coverage support. “I like the fact that the foundation is matte. The dry look gives women better coverage, and tropical women like to maintain their cool all day. It’s oil free, great for oily skin, and shine free. As well as it’s long-wearing,” she shared.
Tifa explained that she loves that it lasts 24 hours, “Especially when I have to go to more places than one, for promotional purposes for instance, I don’t have to touch-up, retouch, or do anything to myself: I can just move. When you’re on shoots, it makes the process easier, because you don’t have to stop every minute to pat the face,” she declared. She also argued that she is a fan of the fact that it was made for women of colour, so they no longer have to blend to achieve the perfect shade: full spectrum, she says, has a shade for every shade of melanin.
The Man Government singer is honoured to be partnering with CoverGirl Jamaica and EC Makeup Bar, noting that she is excited and happy to be the first woman of the Caribbean to make this milestone. “I’m very excited to be a part of and represent the brand that is promoting make-up for women of colour. And, of course, you know, in Jamaica, out of many, we are one, so we have a lot of colours, but with Full Spectrum, we have a shade for everyone.” She declared additionally that she considered this worthwhile move to be iconic, so she is elated to be play an active role in this initiative and is looking forward to taking the products to the world. Tifa definitely got glam covered!
