Once again, the topic of abortion is being discussed in Parliament. Human rights activists across the island are lobbying for women to have access to this service and not be worried about prison time and the church. Well, their discourse is that a foetus is a life and to get rid of it should be considered murder.

Flair ventured into the streets to see how the people of Papine Square felt about the matter.

“Do you think women should have access to safe and affordable abortions?”

Alice Garcia: No, I don’t think so. If you don’t want to get pregnant, use protection. There is a lot of protection out there.

Sheldon Campbell: Nope. Pickney fi bring forth.

Daniel Johnson: The abortion ting, yuh taking a life, baby. Nothing is wrong with contraceptive. Use it.

Randy Clarke: I’m not gonna answer that question because I don’t believe in killing your child. It is an abomination to the Lord.

Nicole Senior: Truthfully I’m against abortion so even if the child is a foetus I’m still against it. It’s still a life.

Donette Thomas: Yes. I believe so because of the high raise in rape cases these days. I do believe that women should have to right to an abortion because not every pregnancy is wanted. I am not saying that every child isn’t a blessing but due to certain situations some things are more of a reminder than a blessing.

Marcel Kelly: Right now as a Bobo Shanti, a young prophet in congress looking through I and I third eye, I put a ‘X’ right there. The white people came up with it to get rid of the black population. abortion was not in creation. The youths must forward. I ‘bun’ abortion.

Nadine Walker: I don’t believe in taking life because number one you’re having sex and you don’t protect yourself, you know you must end up with something of the sort so if you get pregnant carry the baby.

Joewayne Douglas: No, women should not abort their child or children. The very fact that the child was coming to being it’s God design plan. In or out of marriage I believe that you should not throw away that child.

Xio McLeash: I mean, yes. because everybody situation kinda different.
