It was a culinary experience with a difference for those who turned out for Jamaica Day celebrations at Bermady Primary School in St Catherine last Friday.

The occasion saw a splendid display of food such as coconut rundown, ackee and salt fish, corned pork, fried sprat, fried chicken, tun cornmeal, along with rice varietals calalloo, gungo and red peas.

To appease persons with a sweet tooth there were coconut drops, potato and cornmeal pudding as well as other delectable treats.

"It took great effort from the staff and all concerned to make this day a reality. It is all authentic Jamaican food that will help to highlight our country's culinary diversity," Norman Howell said.

The occasion saw staff, parents and students busily sharing the cultural activities. And if the expressions are anything to go by, it was an experience that helped to educate the students on the history of some of the foods we consume today.
