Pineapple ketchup?

There is no age limit when it comes to going after your dream. No one knows that more than president of the Longville Park Citizens' Association, Nancy Hylton Coleman.

After being told that there is no way she can enjoy ketchup from pineapple, Hylton Coleman decided to disprove that theory.

Powered by her training sessions at the Ebony Park Heart Academy, where she pursued agro-processing, Hylton Coleman said she sometimes felt like she was "responsible" for all her batchmates.

"I was the oldest in the class of students mainly in their early 20s. I was like their counsellor and mother, but I never felt out of place," she told Food. Focused on learning the skills to make her dream come true, she said she knows that you are never too old to try.

Fast-forward to 2016 and the product is now a reality, and word-of-mouth advertising has seen her enjoying some sales. But Hylton Coleman says she is looking to having it on supermarket shelves, pharmacies, and even exporting it.

Currently, the products under the Auntie Nancy logo is her Pineapple Ketchup, BBQ-It-Up and Jerk-It-Up - all pineapple based. In addition to these products, she also makes a mean carrot chutney.

"Pineapple is loved by a lot of persons and it carries a unique, tangy taste. Mix that with a touch of ginger and this makes it the perfect choice to do my spices with," she revealed.

If the reactions she has been receiving from all those who have sampled her products are anything to go by, then she is on to a good thing.

According to Hylton Coleman, the products - which are Bureau of Standards Jamaica-approved - have been garnering a lot of positive feedback, and it is this encouragement that sees her going the extra mile to get it on the shelves all over.

Taking it one day at a time, she is doing the rounds at the various expo markets, bringing awareness to the products. They have, so far, reached The Bahamas.

"It's not on a large scale, but with faith in God, I know I will eventually get there," she said.

A member of the Freetown Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Hylton Coleman hails from Boon Hall in St Mary before settling in Denbigh, Clarendon.

The mother of five children, Hylton Coleman is now balancing making time for her husband, children, and taking her business to the next level.
