It was a 'food-tastic' affair last Sunday at the highly anticipated RJRGLEANER Communications Group-sponsored Restaurant Week (RW) launch.

The event offered a whole new culinary experience for foodies who turned out to the lawns of Devon House, St Andrew, to experience just what RW has to offer. There were more than 10 tents with tasty and sweet treats, as good as the best Sunday dinner.

Let's take your taste buds on a tantalising tour, shall we?

Guests were invited to satisfy their sweet tooth with signature ice cream and pineapple banana smoothie, courtesy of Infiniti Gelato and Grill.

Succulent shrimp partnered with a spicy yet sweet grilled fish fillet, by Rainforest Foods, complemented by old-fashioned callaloo rice had taste buds feeling right at home at Belcour Preserves. Oasis at the Oxford carried its buffet-style servings to the event, offering a wide array of delicious dishes.

Simma Soupery and Bakery warmed tummies with veggie corn and red peas soup, sweetening the deal with freshly made cranberry and pistachio cookies.

JoJo's Jerk Pit and More offered its signature pulled pork sliders, which are sure to leave a savoury taste in your mouth. Triple T'z Eatery dished out homestyle favourites, like oxtail, for all to savour, while the spicy curried shrimp from A-Bar Restaurant and Lounge teased taste buds.

SAUSAGES AND CHOCOLATE

Crowd-pleaser Bad Dawg Sausages didn't fail to deliver, where flavour is concerned. Neither did CB Foods, which attracted lots of attention with its uniquely designed and decorated booth.

Chocolate Dreams sweetened proceedings with a chocolate fountain - an instant crowd favourite. Sweetie Confectionery Company Limited shared a sugar rush with their products, and Party King Snow Ice had children in a frenzy with rainbow snow cones.

St Mary Banana Chips stood out as the only snack stall, sharing the popular treat for children and adults to enjoy.

There were also beverages galore. Brew'd Awakening and Wallenford Coffee seemed to work in delightful harmony, offering hot and cold treats. And who could forget Select Brands who created quite a buzz with sips of their best Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wines? If you weren't a wine lover, you had your choice of cocktails courtesy of Absolut Vodka.

A unique treat at the event was a Saturday morning market with fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, set up by the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, in association with Mount Plenty Farms.

The event was a major success and anticipation is high for the official staging of Restaurant Week, which begins tomorrow, November 10, and runs until the 18th.
