Sweet Runnings Jamaican Recipe Galore is chock-full of authentic Jamaican recipes waiting for you to recreate in your home. Written by Dr Pamella Powell, the book earlier this year won the Special Award of the Jury Certificate from the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Before that award, the book was also awarded four Gourmand National Awards: Best First Book, Best Self-Published Book, Best Caribbean Cuisine, and a Special National Award.

An elated Dr Powell sees this as a win for Jamaican culinary arts. "Everyone loves Jamaica, especially our cuisine. This work is in-line with the current mission of the Ministry of Tourism, which is to establish Kingston, Jamaica as a gastronomical hub," said Powell.

For as long as she can remember, Dr Powell has always had a passion for cooking, a passion she developed growing up in south-east St Elizabeth. She is regarded as a historian who has done extensive research on Jamaica's culinary heritage and its development over the years. Powell spent numerous years with the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission as the culinary arts specialist and director of special projects.
