Open Mondays to Saturdays between the hours of 11a.m. and 10p.m. is Kingston’s newest fast-food restaurant, Quick Chick. Smack in the middle of half- way tree, just inside the JUTC transport centre, the red, white and black colour scheme pops among all the other shops on the strip. “Myself and my partners, Oral McCook and Don Patterson, sat down with the idea in about November 2018. Jamaicans eat more chicken than they do any other meat, so we figured it would be a great venture once we came up with the perfect flavour profile,” said Conley Salmon.

Walking into the restaurant, you are guaranteed to be greeted with a smile. The staff is polite and work swiftly to ensure that each customer receives a superior client experience. “We selected our staff based on experience and attitude. Each of them bring something different to the table, and we want to mould that to ensure that our customers are satisfied,” said Salmon.Chicken Time

The chicken is well done, with the right amount of crisp. Quick Chick provides two fried chicken flavour profiles: homestyle and spicy. The homestyle fried chicken can be likened to that of granny’s Sunday dinner; each bite leaving you in trails of nostalgia. Served with hot fries and a cold cup of Coca-Cola, perfect for your mid-trip stop on your way to wherever the afternoon may take you. The spicy chicken boasts flavours of Jamaica as its main spice is the Jamaican ‘country pepper’. Definitely ‘freeze-and-take-on-the-plane’ worthy to give your relatives a bite of the island.

Various combos are offered ranging from one piece to 21 pieces, all served with fries and a drink of your choice. So, Is half- way tree the only place you can get your hands on these savoury delights? Yes, but not to worry, Quick Chick has all intentions of becoming a fast-food chain restaurant right across the island, while becoming a household name.

Where are you eating today? We definitely suggest you beat the foot traffic at the other restaurant chains and treat yourself to some quick chicken, served in under two minutes!
