Classic or Gold. Those were the rich choices readily available at the recently celebrated International Coffee Day at Nestle Jamaica. Now, who doesn't love coffee? For many, a fresh cup is the ideal way to start and conquer the day.

So, in honouring the special occasion, the company brought the appreciation festivities closer to home, offering its staff member a little perk to their day, treating them to the likes of sweet freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, accompanied with hot or cold coffee.

According to Nestle's Category Manager for beverages, Chevanne Lawrence, International Coffee Day is celebrated globally so the company just wanted to show its staff internally what they are trying to do with the products. He explained the classic and gold were chosen because the taste versions are different. "The classic is for the average drinker who just likes to drink coffee. While the gold is for the experienced coffee drinker seeking a smoother, richer roast."

There are those who only approve of the strictly black approach to the brew, but for many, coffee cannot be complete without its creamy mate. Nestle has played matchmaker in that regard, pairing the classic and gold coffee with the regular, hazelnut and French vanilla creamers. But the leaders in the market have decided to try something new, elevating the flavour ante by adding vanilla caramel, vanilla caramel sugar free, chocolate creme and caramel latte to the line.

Spectators marvelled at the epic combination, revelling in the refreshing pick-me-up for the tasks ahead. Light conversation and laughter erupted in the vibrant, fun-filled room as some kept busy at the coffee station, returning for more of the pure indulgence, while others opted to bask in the merriment of the intimately gathered event, taking pictures, videos and boomerangs, just for the 'Gram.

“We know many are accustomed to consuming a warm cup of the tasty variety, but we here at Nestle, want to change how you drink coffee. Coffee is not just about being hot, or having it breakfast time. You can have it any time of the day, whether it is cold or frozen. Chef Andrew Sloley did an excellent job with the chocolate chip cookies and frozen selection, similar to a milkshake, with a twist, topped with whipped cream and cookies.”

As an added treat, Nestle has shared a mocha frozen coffee recipe, created Chef Sloley, just for you. Happy sipping!
