Typically, when we as Jamaicans add flavour to our coffee, coffee we are very proud and protective of, we add a bit of hazelnut, vanilla, or amaretto or keep it simple with some condensed milk. However, across the temperate world the arrival of autumn or fall as our friends in the North call it, has brought forth the most sacred of seasonal beverages: the Pumpkin Spice Latte. While we may have hurricane season in place of the pre-winter (Christmas time) spell, that doesn’t mean we can’t partake of the treats and festivities like everyone else. In fact, that’s where Café Dolce comes into play, offering a seasonal alternative, something to spice up your day in more ways than one. Food stopped by to try the cold treat and was treated to more than we expected.

Located at 114 Constant Spring Road, sandwiched into the Tile City showroom is the ultramod café, an Instagrammers daydream, serving up the delicious caffeinated beverages. The space is almost like stepping into a Wes Anderson film without the sepia filter, filling the eyes before they’ve even got to your stomach. “Welcome to Dolce!” and you’re introduced to this seasons special, the Pumpkin Spice Frappe or latte. For this heat, we recommend the frozen treat, cutely called the “Frozay”. Thickly blended with ice and white chocolate cream, their pumpkin spice blend and coffee is then topped with a generous serving of whipped cream and a shake of nutmeg on top. Sure it sounds sweet, but the café will happily pump up the coffee to your taste, so don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. You can still have it your way with Café Dolce!

Maybe you’re not a coffee fan. That’s fine. They have more than lattes and frozays. Available for your enjoyment are teas like matcha; something different for the foodies – mango smoothies; yummy tart lemonades and most importantly food. We don’t know about you, but we love breakfast foods and Café Dolce has an all-day smorgasbord of breakfast sandwiches and platters. Not a fan? That’s no problem either. Lunch is on special with half-soups, salads, and sandwiches where you mix and match as your please for only $815! You don’t have to eat your breakfast either. You can drink it here with the Kamp Kamilla Skinny Smoothie chock full of all the healthy yummy things you’d need to keep you full and happy and well … skinny for the day.
