The Authentic Flavour of Reggae Mill

Surprisingly, restaurants offering a gourmet, authentic Jamaican meal are few and far between in Kingston, Jamaica. Thankfully, when guests crave a proper Jamaican meal, the way grandma used to cook it – full of flavour, full of passion and full of history – they will now think of Reggae Mill Restaurant!

The newly launched Reggae Mill Restaurant is the first restaurant serving up a full menu of traditional, authentic Jamaican cuisine inside of the iconic, historic Devon House. A cosy location decorated with local art and, of course, rustic Jamaican details and colours, it definitely feels like a home away from home. Now, tourists and locals can enjoy a gourmet meal, everything from ackee and salt fish and pressed plantain to succulent oxtail, curry goat, jerk pork, steamed fish and ital stew! Not to mention the delectable desserts – a rum and raisin bread pudding that does not skimp on the rum, and a chocolate lava cake made with local artisanal chocolate.

Judging by their successes with Opa and the popular weekly party, Fridays at the Devon, co-owners Orlease King and Alexx Antaeus have proven time and time again that they are great at what they do, so opening Devon House’s first fully authentic Jamaican offering comes as no surprise.

Inspired by childhood experiences, King took the reins on this venture and guided a team of highly qualified, local chefs in creating a menu filled with items that are sure to warm your heart and your belly. From memories in the kitchen with her grandmother, to runnin’ boat in the community, to market visits and everything in-between, each dish on the menu tells an engaging storythat guests are sure to enjoy.

The venue boasts a quintessential Jamaican dining theme, featuring rustic pallets and dining tables, giving you true Jamaican homestyle vibes. Portraits line the walls of the dining area featuring some our most iconic public figures, including Bob Marley, Usain Bolt and our Honorable Prime Minister Andrew Holness, all done by local artists. The tablescape features centerpieces made of wood and greenery adding to the homely nature of the eatery, while the soothing sounds of sweet reggae music puts you in the mood.

Not only does the new Reggae Mill Restaurant offer the full Jamaican experience from food to ambience, it also boasts competitive prices so all Jamaicans can enjoy in the experience. Co-owners Orlease King and Alexx Antaeus, upon opening the restaurant, envisioned a central spot that could provide home-cooked style, authentic Jamaican food in a venue that could give you the true essence of Jamaica, accessible not only to tourists, but locals as well.
