In the heart of Negril’s famous seven-mile beach lies an exclusive dining experience that merges Jamaican culture and cuisine. Miss Lily’s is the resident restaurant at the Skylark hotel, which has been in operation for over three years. The overall theme of the restaurant is entrenched in dub and roots reggae from the ’70s, starting with a mural of a vintage-themed dancehall poster at the entrance, which stands parallel to a wall, that is overlaid with the cross section of a sound box, with the name Miss Lily’s on it.

The interior section is partially opened to allow guests to see the white sand and the sea. It’s painted in lively colours that reflect the vibrant nightlife of Jamaica, and the ceiling is plastered with images of persons dancing and lyming. Additionally, the walls were retrofitted with the album covers of reggae producers such as Winton Riley and Sugar Minott.

There is also a deck area for persons who want to have a better view of the ocean, while sitting under a line of incandescent-type light bulbs.

Everything is freshly prepared and an emphasis is placed on consistency with every meal, which does lend to a waiting time. Fortunately, it’s outfitted with a staff complement of over six workers, who actively roam the area to ensure each guest is catered to.

Miss Lily, a fictitious character which represents the traditional Jamaican female who is a kitchen expert, can also be found on the international market. The restaurant has branches in both Dubai and New York, where it serves authentic Jamaican dishes.
