“Owned by food lovers.” That’s the motivation behind food company, Nature’s Catering Services. Its continued success, even as COVID-19 presents several challenges, is attributed to providing unwavering gastronomic support for appetites all across the island.

The family has been affiliated with the food industry for over a decade, but the events catering branch grew just two years ago. Already, the dedicated team has racked up a number of signature dishes, guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds. Menu items like the crowd favourite, shrimp macaroni and cheese, is usually praised for its rich cheese flavour. When it comes to poultry, the callaloo stuffed chicken breast is both tender and juicy. While pastas, including creamy shrimp pasta and the penne alla Vodka, are consistent favourites.

“Our clients appreciate the homey feeling they experience once they indulge in our meals. We have heard that our dishes are obviously prepared with love,” sales and marketing manager, Leigh-Anne Lewars, shared with Food.

Stepping outside the concessionary norms, the company was created to cater to special occasions like weddings, birthdays and parties. “Food has always been one of those things that bring our family together. And this was our way of extending that same family feeling we get at our gatherings and from our meals to others across the island,” she added. It helps that many of the recipes created were tried and mastered at home before making the scrumptious line-up.

The organisation was looking towards more growth, when it was hit by the crushing blow of the global pandemic. With a number of engagements postponed and cancelled, given the restrictions and protocols on social gatherings, Nature’s Catering went back to the cutting board to figure out how to weather the storm. That’s where the innovation of the dinner boxes came in.

Introduced by Lewars, the team was able to release its first box on Father’s Day last year. “By putting together these [catered] boxes, it would help in erasing the ideas and thoughts surrounding cancelling 2020 altogether because restaurants, bars, beaches and venues were closed. We wanted the boxes to create a new love for hosting small dinner parties monthly and we made it easy by providing the tasty meal options,” the creator revealed. Since Father’s Day was a success, the dinner boxes have remained a staple on the menu each month.

The dinner boxes feature a new monthly menu and are usually prepared to serve three to five persons. Each entrée, Lewars highlighted, comes with a choice of side. As time progresses, the company aspires to make the choices even more appealing and exciting. “Side options will range from creamed potatoes, coconut rice, candied sweet potatoes, creamed callaloo, baked macaroni and cheese, just to name a few.”

Although the future is still unclear, one thing’s for certain: Nature’s Catering will continue to work through this pandemic, seeking the best opportunities to meet the clients’ culinary needs.

“We have been working tirelessly on recreating recipes that we hope will appeal to our target in a greater way. We also aim to adjust as the times change, while ensuring our team and our customers remain safe,” Lewars declared.
