Food and football are always a perfect pair. But, when you include fine dining, the viewing experience becomes top-notch. Since the beginning of the 2022 World Cup season, the lunch rush at the Alexander’s Restaurant inside the Courtleigh Hotel and Suites have been treated to splendid eats while they watch the games.

Whether choosing to sit inside the restaurant or hang out by the poolside, the mellow ambience provides a perfect midday escape from the rush of the city. Customers not only get to enjoy a wide range of delectable menu items and awesome cocktails but also have full view of the football matches on the televisions provided at both areas.

When Food visited the restaurant, it was obvious that guests could not help but turn their eyes to the screen to take in the sport while enjoying their lunch. But what are the best foods on the menu to order during the game? Well, with the variety provided, ranging from staple Jamaican dishes to snacks and international cuisine, just about anything will truly be satisfying. But according to executive chef Fredrick Gayle, their burgers, pizzas, pastas and chicken wings are sure to hit the spot.

“One of our most popular dishes here is the Jerk Chicken Pasta Alfredo. People rave about it. Our Courtleigh burgers is the best around town and we handmake all out burgers on property. So, we do not buy premade burgers. We make all our burgers fresh. We have pizzas, sandwiches. We have all basic dishes that people love,” he shared.

TOP CONTENDER

Chef Gayle definitely knew what he was talking about as the meals he prepared tasted like they were made with fresh ingredients and had lots of soul, each having the right balance of flavour that were are an absolute delight try. When coupled with the cocktails from the bar, they are sure to have you wanting to come back for more. It was hard choosing which dish was the star of the show, but the burger was definitely a top contender because as simple as it is, making all the ingredients from scratch definitely makes the world of difference.

For Nicola Madden-Greig, group director of marketing & sales, dining at Courtleigh is the perfect way to enjoy this World Cup season.

“We are a good option to come and watch the games because we have the televisions but also definitely for the food. There is also that element of comfort where you can be on the inside or outside. So, you can get that air-conditioned comfort or that nice relaxed air at the poolside, which is really also a fun place to watch the match, and we have a very exciting in-house team that is cheering for their team. But the great thing is, our menu items have a range of prices. We also have platters so if it is a group of you, you can partake of that. We have amazing dishes including an amazing herb grilled chicken breast, we have curried goat, all the Jamaican favourites, including jerk chicken and everything, so a real good variety of food items, and of course signature cocktails can also be had,” she shared.

“The great thing about Alexander’s, the pool bar and Mingles, is that we have long opening hours, we are here to really give good hospitality. The Courtleigh has been known for its food and service over the years and we say we are personalised, warm and inviting and very unique in what we do. So, we are inviting everybody to just come and experience us this season,” Madden-Greig continued.

Luckily, if you miss out on grabbing a bite during game time you can always visit. Alexander’s is also set to begin its Christmas special offerings soon, which is sure to not only tantalise the taste buds but get customers right in the spirit of the season.
