#JaVotes2016: Long lines in St Mary Western, Montague confident of win

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP's) Robert Montague has expressed confidence that he will win the constituency of St Mary Western and that his party will be returned to power by 7 p.m. tonight.

During an interview with The Gleaner after casting his ballot at 8:15 a.m. at the Bible Truth International Assembly in Windsor Castle, Montague said he has reported an issue with the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ).

"There are reports that at a polling station in Hunts Town, the electoral staff is slowing down the voting process... same problem last election and I warned the EOJ."

But the former Member of Parliament says that long lines at 8 a.m. were an indication that the JLP will win.

Montaque also told The Gleaner that he hopes to win the Oracabessa division this time around.

"We have improved our ground game tremendously and engaged even members of the PNP. Some of the comrades will not vote against me, they rather not to vote. We are pulling 90 per cent of canvassed JLP.

The numbers are ahead of projections at 8 a.m. There will be a lot of surprises at the end of the day," he said.
