Police call on men to turn themselves in

The police have given a number of men who were named as either persons of interest or as being wanted in relation to serious crimes in the Area Four division until midday on Monday to turn themselves in.

"By midday Monday, we'd like all of them to report. If they don't, we are going to be coming for you," said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ealan Powell, head of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). Powell and other senior officers were speaking at a press conference held at Harman Barracks in Kingston yesterday.

"I can assure you that we are not going to spare any effort in ensuring that the Corporate Area gets back to its quiet days. There are persons of interest that we have an interest in speaking to and they will remain [persons of interest] after Monday if they don't come in. We'd like all of these persons to report either to Kingston Central, Hunts Bay, or Kingston Western divisional headquarters by midday Monday," said Powell.

PERSONS OF INTEREST

Among the persons of interest named at the press conference were: Mawaldi Harley (Waldie), Andrew Leighton Coke (Livity), Uriel James (Rooksie), Lancaster Coke (Bamma T), and Aaron Thompson (Birdy).

Individuals who the police said were wanted for murder and other offences include: Delroy Nathan (Dread), twin brothers Mervin Henry (Biggie) and Marvin Henry (Likkle).

According to ACP Terrence Bent, who is in charge of Area Four, the police's investigations have revealed that the recent upsurge in violence across the division is gang related and involves a battle for control of turf.

One of the most recent incidents involved a two-year-old boy who was shot and killed execution-style on Luke Lane in Kingston earlier this week.

Bent appealed to residents of the troubled areas to assist the police in locating the persons named.
