'Ochi' ambience adds intimate flavour
The birth certificate of Restaurant Week will show the cradle to be Kingston, Jamaica. But over the years, growing from strength to strength, this baby has moved to different towns and the Second City, capturing the palates of many.
Ocho Rios is one of those towns - quite a different crowd to that of Kingston. The calm of the nearby sea sets the tone for those out to dine. Evita's Italian Restaurant, Boardwalk Bistro, Spring Garden Seafood and Steakhouse and Bettino at the Marina were host to intimate gatherings of friends and family.
Evita's, poised on the hill, offered a breathtaking view of Ocho Rios by night, and it was further enhanced by the sight of a cruise ship docked at the port of Ocho Rios.
The aroma from the kitchen at Spring Garden Seafood and Steakhouse arrested the pop up team as far as from the parking lot. The soft light from the candles created dancing shadows that seemed to be actors, adding to the script of love stories that came from each table.
Boardwalk Bistro offered a lighter scene with a staff that engaged the patrons, making it hard to leave, even when their meals were finished.
Kadien Reid told The Gleaner that she had not been out with her son for a long time and was glad for the opportunity to dine in fine style.
