Hunting a ‘Duppy’- Cops issue warning to those helping Jamaica’s most wanted avoid capture

It has been more than a year since Marlon 'Duppy Film' Perry was alleged to have murdered, raped and shot his way to the top of Jamaica's most wanted list, and still he continues to elude the police.
But the cops are convinced that Duppy Film remains free only because he is getting help to avoid them.
"He is in the island, and the search is unending and relentless, but we need the support of the people," Assistant Commissioner in charge of crime Ealan Powell told Gleaner editors and reporters last week.
Powell was responding to reports that Duppy Film had fled the island by boat late last year and had made it to a nearby island.
While Powell would not disclose much of the strategies being employed to catch Duppy Film, he made it clear that the police need help.
"We need the support of the people because he is moving around, and he is moving around people. Somebody is supporting him," said Powell.
"But we want to remind them that if he is caught in their presence they are likely to be charged with aiding a fugitive."
Duppy Film was accused of murdering Corporal Kenneth Davis and Constable Craig Palmer on December 22, 2015, and also for a string of shootings, rapes and other crimes.
During one of several police-military operations to nab him in Harbour View, St Andrew, one of his cronies was killed and two illegal guns, including an Uzi submachine gun, said to be Duppy Film's favourite type of weapon, was seized.
A $1.5-million reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Duppy Film.
