Two JUTC managers resign after charter audit, contracts not renewed for three others

Two senior managers have resigned from the Jamaica Urban Transit Company following an audit into the charter service at the state-run bus company. 

At the same time, the expired contracts of three other senior managers have not been renewed.

JUTC managing director Paul Abrahams says Reginald Allen, the marketing and sales manager; and Jean Dixon-Edwards, the charters and events assistant, tendered their resignations at the same time they provided a report in response to the audit.

The audit is said to have made grave findings.

Meanwhile, Abrahams says three other employees are to be interviewed about the audit findings and depending the outcome, the JUTC board will make a decision on the next course of action.

Abrahams would not reveal the contents of the audit, but confirmed that it has raised serious concern.

He also said it was too early to say whether the police will be asked to investigate.

According to Abrahams, that determination will be made after all interviews are completed and a final report presented to the JUTC board.

Meanwhile, the JUTC boss said the contracts have not been renewed for Errol Simpson, depot operations manager at Half-Way Tree; Michael Brown, maintenance manager, Ashenheim Depot; and, Brian Tulloch, IT Corporate Office.

However, he would not provide details on the reason.

"It's in keeping with the new directions of the management on how we are going to move forward," Abrahams said when pressed.
