Clarendon Pavilion at Denbigh renamed in Shagoury's honour

Over the years, custos of Clarendon, William Shagoury, has made his presence felt at the Clarendon Pavilion at the Denbigh Showground through his support - financial as well as his time.

His support extended to assisting with the other needs that arose on the property.

On Sunday, at the 65th staging of the Denbigh Agricultural Show, his hard work and dedication were recognised in a special way as Governor General Sir Patrick Allen cut the ribbons to the rebranded pavilion - The William Shagoury Building.

"He's very hard-working. When he gives, he does so with his heart. It's outstanding what he has done as a member of the parish," said Allen, referring to Shagoury as a "gentleman".

Adding his voice to the recognition, president of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, Norman Grant, said it was only fitting, as Shagoury had given "tremendous support".
