Plans for the second staging of Build Expo and Conference, the annual premier event for the local construction sector are in high gear. The event is set for the Montego Bay Convention Centre from June 8 -11.

According to Dwight Crawford, founder and chairman for the organising committee, early planning allows for a better production, especially with more firms expressing interest.

"Our inaugural staging has raised some eyebrows and the international market is paying attention," Crawford told The Gleaner. "Embassies and consuls of several countries in Asia, Europe and North America have already represented the interest of several of their international construction firms, and this is suggesting a significant increase in booths that will be on display when compared to our first staging. Build Expo is that vehicle for local industry players to showcase their talent to the regional and even international market, from the developer to a homeowner or even an individual still dreaming of owning their own home, there will be something at Build Expo 2018."

The expo will feature local, regional, and international exhibitors of products and services with the array of industries connected to the building and property-development sectors, through expert seminars and workshops covering several topics relating to the sector.

According to the organisers, participants enjoyed millions of dollars in trade at the inaugural event, while partnerships were forged, especially between stakeholders in finance, hardware, furniture and appliances, architecture, landscape, and interior designing.
