Mother-daughter duo Janna and Jahzara Roberts are out in matching costumes to play mas with the Xodus marching band in Kingston.

Janna who lives in Trinidad said this is the first time her three-year-old daughter is marching.

“I took Jahzara to watch the carnival in Trinidad but it's her first time jumping and she's doing a great job,” she said.

And so far, the young reveller is loving it, especially when her favourite soca song 'Hulk' is blaring from the loud speakers.

The Gleaner caught up with the two leaving the  BMW showroom on Lady Musgrave Road where they had stopped for lunch.

At lunch, many Xodus jumpers sought to refresh themselves ahead of the second leg of the journey, getting last minute make-up touches, costume repairs and massages.

"It has been crowded since lunchtime started," said Amanda Taylor, a university student who was a part of the team doing costume repairs.

When Taylor and her colleagues had their hands full, revellers picked up their needles and threads and did their own stitching.
