Shaw ... We have to encourage our business people to get formal.

Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Audley Shaw has announced plans to establish a micro stock exchange, to complement the junior stock exchange.

Shaw says the micro stock exchange will target micro and medium enterprises needing capital.

Speaking at the JMA Expo at the National Indoor Sports Centre last evening, Shaw said the micro stock exchange will provide capitalisation between $5 million $50 million for businesses.

"We are operating in a time of derisking. The time for informality in our business company has passed. We have to encourage our business people to get formal. The micro stock exchange will offer yet another opportunity to get formal," Shaw said.

He said the Jamaica Stock Exchange has been given instruction to advance the establishment.
