Several residents living in flood-prone communities of St Thomas are finding it costly to prepare their homes for the 2018 hurricane season, which started on June 1

"I won't tell a lie. I am really worried. My house flooded last year, so if a hurricane comes now, I know that it will be blown down because it is a board house," Errol Walker of Bath in the parish told The Gleaner.

"I am gathering some material now to strengthen the house. I am just hoping nothing happens before. The finances are tight, but I am trying," he added.
